Dean J. Gould is the Chief of Staff and Special Counsel to the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Mr. Gould is a licensed attorney in Nevada and Michigan.  Immediately prior to joining the NSHE, Mr. Gould was the Director of Admissions for the State Bar of Nevada. Prior to assuming that role, Mr. Gould practiced commercial real estate and business law in both Nevada and Michigan.

Mr. Gould received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan (AB, with high distinction, 1976) and his law degree from Wayne State University Law School (JD, cum laude, 1979), where he was a member of the Wayne Law Review. Mr. Gould was a founding partner of the law firm of Jackier Gould, PC in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Las Vegas, NV. His law practice focused on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, sales, acquisitions and financing of real estate, residential and commercial real estate development, mortgage foreclosures, loan and commercial financing work-outs, and related commercial transactions.

Mr. Gould served as an Impartial Referee and Mediator for the Nevada Department of Business & Industry, Real Estate Division, an Impartial Referee for the Nevada Department of Business & Industry, Mortgage Lending Division, a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge, an Arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District Court (Clark County, Nevada) Court-Annexed Arbitration Program, and as a Foreclosure Mediator for the Nevada Foreclosure Mediation Program. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was named a Michigan and Nevada Super Lawyer as well as a Super Lawyer—Corporate Counsel Edition (Real Estate). Mr. Gould has been an Adjunct Professor at The University of Michigan Law School, the William S. Boyd (UNLV) School of Law and at Wayne State University Law School, where he taught courses on Real Estate Finance, Land Use Planning and Control and Real Estate Transactions. He is fluent in Spanish, having lived in Bolivia and Mexico.
