Regent Kevin Melcher was elected to the Board of Regents in 2010. He currently serves as chair of the Investment and Facilities Committee and vice chair of the Business and Finance Committee and the Community College Committee. He is also a member of the Cultural Diversity Committee. He was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve on the Nevada State Board of Education effective January 8, 2013. He was also selected to serve on the Subcommittee on Academics and Workforce Alignment, part of the Nevada Legislature’s Interim Study Concerning the Governance Structure of and Funding Methods for Community Colleges.

Regent Melcher is a native Nevadan and graduated from Reno High School in 1974. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1979 and earned his Masters degree in 1981. He served as a student senator for the colleges of arts and science and education for four years and was ASUN senate president in 1978-1979.

Regent Melcher retired in 2008 from the Elko County School District after serving his last 22 years as a school and district level administrator. He is married to Reno native Ann Marie (Humphrey) Melcher and they have resided in Elko, Nevada since their marriage in 1980.
