History
On September 27, 1999, Regent Douglas Roman Hill proposed to Board Chair Jill Derby a motion that was passed subsequently at the October 1999 Board of Regents meeting. The text of the motion is as follows:
The universities and community colleges in the NSHE will establish a uniform numbering system for all baccalaureate degree courses and report the new numbering system to the Regents by the September 2000 meeting for adoption and implementation in the Spring of 2001.
Courses offered at the community colleges that are equivalent to upper division university credits will be evaluated to determine whether they should be upper- or lower-division courses. If a course is determined to be appropriately upper-division, it will be dropped from the community college curriculum. If a course is determined to be appropriately lower-division, it will be reclassified as such. Any issues unresolved by the universities and community colleges will be reported to the Regents at the September meeting and final determinations will be made by the Regents at the October 2000 meeting.
