The Board of Regents met in the Office of President Clark on
Friday, December 22d, 1922.  There were present Regents Pratt,
Hood and Talbot, President Clark and Comptroller Gorman.

List No. 12, Regents Checks Nos. 2092 to 2105 for a total of
$37,328.39, and List No. 29, State Claims Nos. 296 to 302, for
a total of $6,849.16, were approved, on motion of Judge Talbot,
by the following vote:

After presenting the credentials of Alfred Leslie Higginbotham
for our open position in Journalism, President Clark recommend-
ed, on the recommendation of Dr. Hill, that Mr. Higginbotham be
elected to an Instructorship in the Department of English, for
the coming semester at a salary of $1000.  Mrs. Hood made the
motion.  Vote:

    Judge Talbot         Aye

At the request of the Associated Students, President Clark rec-
ommended that for this coming second semester of the University
year 1922-23, an additional fee of $3 be collected at registra-
tion time by the Comptroller of each student, with exception of
those students already exempted from payment of the student fee,
with the understanding that each student so assessed is to re-
ceive a copy of the 1923 edition of the Artemisia when issued,
and with the further understanding that the total sum so col-
lected shall be paid to the Artemisia Board.  Judge Talbot made
the motion.  Vote:

    Mr. Pratt            Aye
    Judge Talbot         Aye

President Clark recommended that the Regents authorize the ex-
penditure of $300 for Artemisias at $3 per copy on condition
that Professor A. E. Hill reports to the Board his satisfaction
with this edition of the Artemisia.  Mrs. Hood made the motion.

At the suggestion of Comptroller Gorman, the Regents authorized
the renewal of his bond as Curator of the University to purchase
alcohol for scientific purposes for the University.  Judge Talbot
made the motion.  Vote:

    Mr. Pratt            Aye
    Judge Talbot         Aye

Judge Talbot as Property Committee was authorized to consult
with Comptroller Gorman and advise him in regard to the disposi-
tion of checks and vouchers antedating 1916.

President Clark announced the establishment, under date October
19, 1922, of a yearly scholarship by the General O. M. Mitchell
Women's Relief Corps of Reno to be awarded to a student of the
Military Department of the University.

The next meeting date of the Board was set for December 30th at
10 o'clock and the organization meeting is by law to come Janu-
ary 2, 1923.  The Secretary of the Board was instructed to pre-
sent Regent-Elect Williams to attend the last meeting of this
present Board on December 30th.
