The Board of Regents met in the Office of the President of the
University on Saturday afternoon, December 20th, at 3 o'clock.
Present: Regents Cheney, Hood, Pratt and North, Vice President
Lewers and Comptroller Gorman.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Cheney.
Upon motion it was ordered that Claim No. 214, in favor of F. J.
De Longchamps, State Architect, for services as State Architect
on the Teachers Training building for the sum of $2599.11, be
segregated, showing the allowance for salary and the amount which
is for expenses of the State Architect; and it was further re-
solved that the claim for salary of the State Architect, amount-
ing to $1982.16 is allowed, provided that in the opinion of the
Attorney General that claim constitutes a legal charge against
the appropriation made for the Teachers Training building; and it
is further ordered that Claim No. 215 in favor of George A. Cole,
State Controller, for services of the State Architect on Farm
buildings for the sum of $150.55 be laid over for further action.

It is the sense of the members that the Secretary should write
to Judge Curler and express to him the willingness of the other
members of the Board to meet with him at any time he may happen
to be in Reno to go over with him any University matter which
he may wish to bring up and to discuss with him Board action
taken when he was absent.
Vice President Lewers read the following letters from President
Clark to the Board:
(1) I make the following recommendations, which I hope may
be passed upon by your Honorable Board at your meeting
on December 20th:
1. That Assistant Professor C. W. Lantz be advanced
from a salary rate of $1800 to $2000 per annum,
to take effect January 1, 1920;
2. That instructor Charles L. Brown be advanced from
a salary rate of $1500 to $1800 per annum, to take
effect January 1, 1920.
Both of these recommendations are made in accord with
a letter of December 11th to me from Professor Frandsen.
These men are in his Department of Biology. At the time
of the general salary advances last Spring, I spoke to
both these men and stated then that by arrangement with
Professor Frandsen we would defer recommendation for
advances to them until January 1, 1920.
I endorse the last sentence in Professor Frandsen's
letter:
Both men are giving efficient service and, in
my judgment, are deserving of this increase.
Judge Cheney moved that the recommendation be adopted.

January 1, 1920, the compensation of Miss Ruth Miller
of the Departments of Veterinary Control Service and
the Experiment Station be increased from the present
figure of $50 to $60 per month.
This increase is to be taken care of by the funds of
the Veterinary Control Service and Serum-Vaccine ac-
count under the immediate direction of Doctor Records
and Experiment Station funds under the direct control
of Director Doten, on such plan as Doctor Records and
Director Doten may deem an equitable division of this
increase.
