At a special meeting of the Board of Regents held on October 4,
1894, H. L. Fish, J. W. Haines and C. E. Mack being present, the
following order was passed:
It is hereby ordered that a requisition for additional arms
and ammunition be made upon the U. S. Government and that
Joseph E. Stubbs, President of the University, is hereby
authorized by the Board to make such requisition and to have
executed the necessary Bond to the United States of America
in the penal sum of Eight Thousand Four Hundred and Seventy
Two Dollars and Ninety Cents ($8,472.90) secured by Charles
Beuden and A. A. Manning as securities qualifying for Forty
Two Hundred Thirty Six Dollars and Forty Five Cents
($4236.45) each. Conditioned for the safe keeping, account-
ing for and return to the Secretary of War of the United
States or to such Officer or person as he may designate to
receive them of the following and therefore is hereby re-
quested to be issued by said Secretary of War to said Uni-
versity for the Military instruction and practice of the
students thereof, to wit:
