Chairman Pratt and Judge Brown met as the Committee of the Board
at 10:15 A.M. on September 30, 1927, in President Clark's Office,
and signed the following claims and payrolls, which had been
signed by Mr. Wingfield and Judge Talbot on September 29th,
since neither of these men could be in Reno on the 30th:

List No. 10, Regents Checks Nos. 7120 to 7134 for the net sum of
$49,885.86 and List No. 9, State Claims Nos. 94 to 104 for the
net sum of $21,130.85.

President Clark suggested that in view of Mr. Cole's evident
interest in repairing Lincoln Hall, as expressed to Mr. Hardy
in the Summer, it would be unwise for the University to go ahead
with repairs as suggested in the August meeting of the Board.
In this the two members present concurred.

President Clark submitted plans and estimates for the remodelling
of the old Library into an English Hall and was requested to
present these at the November meeting of the Board.

At the request of Director Creel, President Clark recommended
that Miss Lassie Lane be given academic rank as Assistant
Professor of Agricultural Extension. Judge Brown moved that
the President's recommendation be approved. Both Mr. Pratt
and he voted aye.

Chairman Pratt asked that the copy of the Declaration of Inde-
pendence given to the University by Dr. and Mrs. Chappelle
should be placed in the entrance hallway of the Memorial
Library and that the bust of Eugene Field should be placed on
a pedestal. President Clark suggested need for lettering on
doors of rest rooms and seminar rooms in new Library. These
items the President was informally authorized to care for
prior to October 21st, the date of the Library acceptance
