Board of Regents met this day. Present Governor Colcord, E. T.
George, H. L. Fish, J. D. Torreyson and Senator Steward.
Absent, J. W. Haines.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Claims against the University to be paid from the Contingent
State Fund were allowed as follows:

Governor Colcord moved and it was carried that Contractor Walker
be allowed $100.00 One Hundred Dollars extra to hand finish the
ceiling of the basement of the Mining Laboratory building.
Governor Colcord moved and it was carried that Professor
Jackson be allowed Fifty Dollars for drawing the plans for the
Minining Laboratory building.
The President was instructed to have Mr. R. Brown do all the
repairing at the University buildings.
Mrs. Emery appeared before the Board and asked for an assistant
in the Normal Department. Matter settled by rearranging school
rooms.
Mr. Pete Howard appeared before the Board and offered to take
care of the Dormitory building for Seventy Five Dollars per
month. Matter laid over.
Governor Colcord moved and it was carried that R. Brown be
authorized to purchase the necessary tools to do the plumbing
in the new Laboratory building.
Upon motion, it was ordered that the appointment of T. W. Cowgill
as Professor of English at an annual salary of Fifteen Hundred
Dollars, commencing from September 1, 1891, and Richard Brown as
Instructor in Mechanical Arts at a salary of One Hundred and
Twenty Five Dollars per month, commencing from September 1, 1891
be confirmed.
It was ordered that the new Mining Laboratory building be insured
for $4,500 in the Phoenix of Hartford Insurance Co. with the
First National Bank of Reno agents.
Robert Lewers was authorized to purchase a flag for the main
University building.
It was ordered that Miss Kinney be allowed $4.00 per day for
taking charge of the Dormitory.
It was decided to accept the offer of the use of the Pavilion
for Military drill in inclement weather.
It was ordered that the University adjourn on Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday of Fair Week.
It was ordered that the word, "optional", be inserted after the
word, "Physiology", in the course of study for the third Normal
year in the Register of 1891-2.
Richard Brown was instructed to have the barn moved to a point
northeast of the Station building and fix it up for a work shop.
It was decided to pay Lieutenant Neall at the rate of Twenty Five
Dollars per month per class until further notice.
Claims were allowed against the University Sept. 5, 1891 to be
paid from the Agricultural and Mechanical College Fund as
