EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
August 24, 1953
The Executive Committee of the Board of Regents met in the Pres-
ident's office at 4 P.M. on Monday, August 24, 1953, for the pur-
pose of opening bids. Present: Regents Ross and Hardy, Presi-
dent Stout and Comptroller Hayden. Regent Lombardi was unable
to be present because of pressure of work in his office. Mr.
Hayden presented copies of the notices which had duly appeared
in the local papers.
Mackay School of Mines
At 4:05 P.M. Mr. Ross opened the bids for remodeling the
Metallurgical Laboratory in the Mackay School of Mines.
Present for this bid opening were Keith Lockard, Architect,
William J. Smyth, Claude Hammond, John Butler, from the
Mackay School of Mines, and 4 members of the bidding firms.
The bids were opened as follows:

The bids were referred to Mr. Hayden and Mr. Lockard for
codification, checking and recommendation to the Executive
Committee.
Mr. Lockard, members of the Mackay School of Mines staff and
members of the bidding firms left the meeting.
Lincoln Hall
At 4:20 P.M. Mr. Ross opened the bids for painting the out-
side of Lincoln Hall. Present for this bid opening were
Carl Horn and 6 members of the bidding firms. The bids were
opened as follows:

The bids were referred to Mr. Hayden and Mr. Horn for codifi-
cation, checking and recommendation to the Executive Commit-
tee.
The meeting adjourned at 4:25 P.M.
On August 25, 1953, the bids for the remodeling work in the
Mackay School of Mines, having been checked and studied by Mr.
Hayden and Mr. Lockard, the members of the Executive Committee
were polled by the Secretary. The decision was unanimous that
the bid be awarded to the lowest bidder, Mr. R. E. Hansen, in
the amount of $40,530.00, and that the checks and bonds ac-
companying the other bids be returned.
Also on August 25, 1953, the bids for the painting of Lincoln
Hall, having been checked and studied by Mr. Hayden and Mr. Horn,
the members of the Executive Committee were polled by the Secre-
tary. The decision was unanimous that the bid be awarded to the
lowest bidder, Mr. Dave Benson, in the amount of $1,081.00, and
that the checks and bonds accompanying the other bids be return-
ed.
