The Board of Regents met at the Office of Regent Deal, Nevada

Block, San Francisco, at 11 o'clock A.M., Monday, August 23,

1897.  Present:  W. E. F. Deal, J. N. Evans and H. S. Starrett.



The purpose of the meeting was to consider the purchasing of

tools and machinery for the Mechanical building just completed.

In the afternoon, the Board and President Stubbs visted the

Lick Mechanical School and the Union Iron Works, and adjourned

to meet at 10 o'clock, Tuesday, August 24th.
