EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
August 3, 1953
A meeting was held in the President's office at the University
for the purpose of opening bids on painting of Manzanita Hall.
Notice of the bid opening had duly appeared in the local news-
Present: Regent Ross, President Stout, Comptroller Hayden,
Superintendent Horn and 6 members of bidding firms. Mr. Hardy
was out of town. Dr. Lombardi was unable to leave his office.
The meeting was called to order at 4 P.M. by Chairman Ross, who
opened the bids as follows:
Lindell Painting Service $3,739.20
Nevada Painting and Sandblasting Company 6,954.99
Weil Construction Company 3,956.00
Henry F. Smith 2,835.00
Julius F. Caselli 2,130.00
James Cristello 3,297.00
Springer Decorating Service 3,345.00
N. K. Everett 4,217.65
Tom Johnson 3,795.00
The bids of N. K. Everett and Tom Johnson were not accompanied by
certified check or bond, as required in bid notice, and so their
bids could not be considered.
The bids were referred to the Comptroller for listing and recom-
mendation to the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents.
On August 7, 1953, the bids having been tabulated and studied by
Comptroller Hayden and Mr. Horn, the members of the Executive
Committee were polled by the Secretary. The decision was unani-
mous that the bid be awarded to the lowest bidder, Mr. J. F.
Caselli, in the amount of $2130, and that the checks and bonds
accompanying the other bids be returned.
