The Regents met in their Office at the University at 10 o'clock
A.M. July 2, 1913.  There were present Regents Reid, Codd, Pratt
and O'Brien, Vice President Lewers, and Assistant Secretary
Gorman.  Absent:  Regent Henderson and Secretary Taylor.

The report of the Acting President was read and ordered filed.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Bids for tile work were opened.

Mr. O'Leary, representing Fischer Tile and Marble Company, was
present.  Their bid was $914.00, with $56.00 for extras.  They
accompanied their bid by certified check for $50.00.

It was moved by Regent O'Brien, seconded by Regent Pratt, that
the bid of $914.00 from the Fischer Tile and Marble Company for
tile work be accepted.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the mat-
ter of door hinges, etc., be left with the Chairman of the
Board.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that Miss Kate
Riegelhuth be appointed Instructor in German, to fill the vacancy
caused by the resignation of E. R. von Janinski, to begin Septem-
ber 1, 1913, salary to be at the rate of $1000 per year.  Car-
ried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that Miss
Margaret E. Mack be appointed assistant in Biology at a salary
of $1000 per year, beginning September 1, 1913.  Carried, Mr.
Pratt not voting.

Moved by Regent Pratt, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that Harold
M. Ellis be appointed Instructor in English to fill the vacancy
of G. S. Paine, salary to begin September 1st, and not to exceed
$1500, at the discretion of the President.

Moved by Regent Pratt, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the
Chairman of the Board of Regents be authorized to assign class
rooms to the various Professors in Stewart Hall for the coming
year.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the Presi-
dent take up matter of Agronomist and Plant Pathologist and make
recommendations at the next meeting. Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that A. A.
Heller be granted a year's leave of absence, without pay, from
July 1, 1913.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent Pratt, that Silas
Calvin Feemster be appointed assistant in History to begin
September 1, 1913, at salary at rate of $1000 per year.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the
President look up an assistant for Librarian.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the flag
used for veiling the statue of John W. Mackay be placed as a
relic in the Mackay Museum.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent Pratt, that Mrs. Kaye
be granted a leave of absence at her request for one year with-
out pay, and that the President and Chairman of the Board be
authorized to employ a matron for Manzanita Hall for this period.
Carried.

Moved by Regent Pratt, seconded by Regent Codd, that the recom-
mendation of the Chairman of the Board regarding the refurnishing
of Lincoln Hall and the rest room be approved, amounting to about
$1500 and $200.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that a multi-
graph be purchased for the Commercial Department, same to be the
latest model.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent Pratt, that the Chair-
man of the Board be authorized to furnish showers for the Gym-
nasium at the best prices.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the Chair-
man of the Board be authorized to sell any old desks or other old
material.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the Chair-
man of the Board of Regents be authorized to pull down old shop.
Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the Chair-
man of the Board of Regents be authorized to have a house for
the potting of plants erected.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent Pratt, that the Chair-
man of the Board be authorized to proceed to have the barn torn
down, and that the University horses be kept at the Station Farm.
Carried.

Moved that monthly bulletin be approved.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent Pratt, that the Chair-
man of the Board of Regents be authorized to confer with the
Attorney General in regard to proper proceeding in regard to
90,000 Acre Grant.
