                        June 15, 1914

A meeting of the Board of Regents was held at 8 P.M. on June
15th, 1914.  Present:  Regents Reid, Codd and O'Brien, Acting
President Lewers, and George H. Taylor, Secretary.  Absent:
Regents Henderson and Pratt.

The reading of the minutes of the previous meetings was post-
poned until the full Board is present.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, and carried,
that the recommendations of the Acting President in regard to
the appointment of Deans as follows be approved:

    To be Dean of the School of Engineering - J. C. Scrugham, at
    a salary of $3000, beginning July 1, 1914.  The School of
    Engineering consists of the College of Mechanical and Elec-
    trical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mining Engineering.

    To be Dean of the School of Agriculture, consisting of Home
    Economics, Dairying, Animal Husbandry and Agronomy, Charles
    Knight, at a salary of $3000, beginning July 1, 1914.

    To be Dean of the School of Arts and Science and the School
    of Education, John C. Watson, at a salary of $3000 per annum,
    beginning July 1, 1914.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the Agri-
cultural Extension work under the Smith-Lever Bill be placed
under the Direction of the Dean of the Agricultural College.
Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that permission
be granted to the Moose-Eagle Societies' Carnival for the Nevada
History Pageant to use the Mackay Field on July 3rd, under the
direction of Professor Scrugham.  Carried.

Moved by Regent O'Brien, seconded by Regent Codd, that a memorial
page, or pages, be dedicated to the memory of President Stubbs
in the University Register for 1914-15.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that a card
announcing the death of the President be gotten out at once.
Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the Acting
President be authorized to invite the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows
to visit the University.  Carried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that carpet
or rugs be gotten for Mrs. Kaye's room in Manzanita Hall.  Car-
ried.

Moved by Regent Codd, seconded by Regent O'Brien, that the regu-
lar employees of the University Campus be allowed 2 weeks vaca-
tion with pay each year.  Carried.

The employment of a Night Watchman of Buildings and Grounds at a
monthly salary of $75 was authorized, his duties to be defined
by Acting President Lewers.

It was the will of the Board of Regents that the Acting President
write to Professor Thompson commending his good work, and it was
so ordered.

No further business appearing, the Board adjourned to meet at the
call of the Chairman.
