At a regular meeting of the Board of Regents held this day at
12:30, the following were present: Governor Colcord, J. D.
Torreyson and H. L. Fish. Absent: C. E. Mack and J. W. Haines.
President Jones also present with the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Matter of day at Orphan's Home considered.
Application of E. E. Winfred read and placed on file.
The President furnished a communication to the Secretary of War,
a copy of which was signed by the Board.
It was ordered that the Mining Laboratory building be painted as
same as the other buildings, cost not to exceed One Hundred
Dollars.
It was ordered that the services of S. G. Kendall, Janitor of the
main school building shall be dispensed with on the last day of
the present month.
In the matter of Mr. Howard, he proposed to continue the Boarding
Department as before at 60 cents per day.
Professor Phillips desired a fixed amount for his Laboratory
for the ensuing year. No action taken. Plan not considered
feasible. He also desired a requisition for two full scales to
be ordered from Europe, which was not entertained.
Claims were allowed as follows:
Agricultural & Mechanical Fund 1,499.23
Contingent University Fund 2,044.54
Mining Laboratory Fund 175.00
Total $3,718.77
Evening session, June 3, members of the Board present.
Salary of Miss Ede was increased from $50.00 to $60.00 per month
from September 1, 1893.
General Torreyson was instructed to draw up a contract with Mr.
Howard relative to the Boarding Department.
No further business appearing the Board adjourned.
