The Board of Regents met at their Office Friday, June 2, 1911,
at 4:30 P.M. Present were Regents Codd, O'Brien and Reid; absent
were Henderson and Williams.
Upon motion of Dr. Reid, seconded by O'Brien, the minutes of all
regular and special meetings of the Board held from April 1st, to
and including May 3, 1911, were approved as read.
On motion of Dr. Reid, seconded by Mr. O'Brien, Professor
Scrugham was authorized to purchase the Babcock Wilcox boiler as
recommended in his letter of May 31, #2220, for the sum of $1720,
F. O. B. Reno, Nevada.
On motion of O'Brien, seconded by Dr. Reid, the Secretary was
authorized to advertise in the Journal and Gazette and the
Sparks Tribune four times for bids, as follows:
PROPOSALS FOR BIDS
The Regents of the University of Nevada request proposals
for bids for the Electrical building. The Regents desire
separate bids on the work as follows:
1. Masonry work
2. Carpenter work
3. Plumbing work
4. Sheet metal work
5. Electrical work
6. Painting
7. Heating
8. Plastering
9. Installation of machinery
These bids should be submitted at the Office of the Board
of Regents on or before 10 o'clock Friday, June 23rd, 1911.
Every bid should be accompanied by a certified check for
five percent of the amount of the bid.
The Regents reserve the right to reject any or all bids.
Plans and specifications may be seen at the Business Office
of the University on any week day between the hours of 8
A.M. and 4 P.M. It is the intention, however, to have plans
and specifications in sufficient number that they can be let
out to all of the persons desiring to bid on the building,
and they will be so given out on a deposit being made of $10.
When the plans are returned to the Office, the money deposit-
ed will be refunded.

Motion of Dr. Reid, seconded by O'Brien, on the recommendation of
President Stubbs on the conditions as stated by the President
that the Regents give 16 State Scholarships of $100 each for 1911
needy deserving students from each county in the State.
Motion of Dr. Reid, seconded by O'Brien, on the recommendation of
President Stubbs Mr. Edward von Janinski was elected Instructor
in German, in charge of the Department of German at a salary of
$800 a year, commencing with August 1st, 1911.
Motion of Dr. Reid, seconded by O'Brien, upon recommendation of
President Stubbs, Miss Wier's salary be made $2400 per year
commencing with July first, 1911.
Motion of Dr. Reid, seconded by O'Brien, upon recommendation of
President Stubbs (Instructor employed).
Motion of O'Brien, seconded by Dr. Reid, Mr. Williams be allowed
$100 for the purpose of visiting and investigating Colleges and
Universities in the eastern states and report to the Board.
Motion of Reid, seconded by O'Brien, upon recommendation of
President Stubbs, he be authorized to suggest the names for
Experiment Station, for race track.
