Pursuant to the call of the President, the Board of Regents met
at the Court House at Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada at 11 o'clock
A.M. on June 1, 1885.
In the absence of M. D. Noteware, Regent H. G. Shaw acted as
Secretary.
In order to confer with the Board of Commissioners of Washoe
County with respect to the removal of the University from Elko
to Reno, a recess of one hour was taken for that purpose.

Upon motion of Regent Shaw, seconded by Regent Getchell, it was
resolved that the sum of Five Thousand ($5000.00) Dollars to
be paid by the Commissioners of Washoe County in aid of the
construction of the State University building at Reno to be
placed on special deposit in the First National Bank of Reno,
subject to withdrawal only upon the joint order of all the
Regents.
Upon motion of Regent Shaw, the following advertisement was
ordered inserted in the "Nevada Journal" and "Reno Gazette":
The Board of Regents of the State University will meet at
the Washoe County Court House, at 11 A.M. on Tuesday,
June 2, 1885, for the purpose of considering the question
of selecting a site for the University buildings in or
adjacent to the town of Reno.
Proposals are invited by the Board of Regents for the said
site from any parties having lands to dispose of suitable
for said Institution.
No proposal will be entertained for less than ten (10)
acres.
An invitation is extended to all citizens interested in
the future welfare of the State University to attend the
above meeting and advise the Board of Regents in the matter
of the selection of the site.

After recess, it appearing that the Commissioners desired another
day for consideration and action, the Board of Regents adjourned
until June 2, 1885.
