April 8, 1903



The Board of Regents met at the Office of the Bank of Nevada at

10 o'clock A.M., Wednesday, April 8, 1903, a full Board being

present.



President Stubbs read his Experiment Station report which was

ordered placed on file. Also his University report which was

ordered placed on file.



On motion of W. W. Booher, seconded by Richard Kirman, the

Secretary of the Board was instructed to request Professor

L. F. J. Wrinkle to place his resignation with the Board to

take effect August 31, 1903.



It was moved, seconded and carried, that the President of the

University be requested to confer with Professor J. Henry Dye

of the University of California and to offer him the Chair of

Civil Engineering and Physics.



On motion duly carried, Dr. Geo. D. Louderback was granted a

leave of absence for one year from September 1, 1903, without

salary, provided he provide a competent Professor to take his

work in his absence at a salary of One Hundred dollars per

month.



On motion duly carried, Professor L. A. Darling was granted a

leave of absence from September 1, 1903 on condition that his

place can be filled at the same salary he is now receiving, pro-

vided the Professor can be obtained for a period of one year,

and that Professor Darling notify the President of the Univer-

sity whether he can return by January 1, 1904.



It was moved, seconded and carried, that the lease dated April

24, 1895 between the Board of Regents and J. N. Evans, relating

to the water reservoir, be extended for two years from time ex-

pired April 24, 1902.



The Secretary of the Board was instructed to advertise in the

Reno Evening Gazette and Reno Ledger for bids on 250 cords 4-foot

split pine wood and 60 cords 4-foot slab wood, all to be piled

and measured on the University grounds in June, July and August,

1903. Said bids to be received not later than 10 o'clock A.M,,

May 15, 1903.



No further business appearing, the Board adjourned to meet the

evening of the same day.

Board of Regents met at 7:15 P.M., April 8, 1903 in their Office.

A full Board present.



On motion of Regent Booher, seconded by Regent Kirman, Professor

True was authorized to go to Fresno, California to purchase a

pair of thoroughbred mares with foal at a price not to exceed

$250 each.



It was moved, seconded and carried, that the request of H. B.

Maxon for running water through the ditch on the Experiment

Station Farm be refused.



On motion of Regent Kirman, seconded by Regent Booher, it was

ordered that the salaries as made at a meeting of the Board on

February 4, 1903, be made permanent.



Minutes of last meeting read and approved.



On motion duly carried, the salary of J. E. Stanaway was increas-

ed to Sixty dollars per month from March 1, 1903.



On motion of Regent Booher, seconded by Regent Kirman, it was

ordered that Superintendent Richard Brown have the stonework

fence at the entrance of Campus completed and finished on or

before the 15th of May, next. Also that the plot below the

bridge be put in lawn grass this Spring.
