~C. C. Batterman, C. N. Noteware and A. N. Fisher having been"
duly appointed and commissioned by His Excellency H. G. Blasdel
~a Board of Regents in and for the State of Nevada, according to"
~the provisions of an Act entitled, ""An Act to Provide for the"
~Election of a Board of Regents, to Fix Their Term of Office,"
~and to Define Their Duties"", met at the Office of the Secretary
of State and proceeded to organize by the election of C. C.
~Batterman, President, and A. N. Fisher, Secretary."

~On motion of C. N. Noteware it was,"

~    RESOLVED, that until further notice, the State Register be"
    requested to include all tracts of not less than 160 acres
~    to be selected at the instance of non-residents, under the"
    Public Building Grant; and all other selections under the
    Internal Improvement Grant; and to file his lists applying
    for selection of the same in behalf of the State and the
~    local U. S. Land Office, making quarterly reports of the"
~    lists so filed, at regular meetings of the Board."

~On motion of A. N. Fisher, it was,"

    RESOLVED, that all even sections within the tract known as"
    the U. S. Timber Reserve (except such portions as have been
    taken by pre-emptions or disposed of upon application of
    individuals) said even sections having been selected for
    the State in part satisfaction of the Internal Improvement
~    Grant, be included by the State Register in the next pub-"
    lished lists for sealed proposals.

~A communication from the State Register under date March 3, 1869
~was read, ordered on file (see file /D/), and lands applied for"
~by A. W. Nightingill, 160 acres; John B. Bradley, 320 acres;"
~John Connors, 320 acres, taken as 640 acres; and L. D. Wickes,"
~320 acres, taken as 640 acres, were ordered selected under the"
~Public Building Grant.  Lands applied for by S. S. Savage, 160"
~acres; Anthony Derrick, 157 18/100 acres, taken as 160 acres;"
~G. M. Tolman, 120 acres, taken as 240 acres; G. W. Tyler, 160"
~acres, taken as 320 acres; Wallace Caldwell, 40 acres, taken as"
~80 acres; Harriet Woodford, 76 09/100 acres, taken as 80 acres;"
~and A. M. Wicks, 320 acres, taken as 640 acres; and R. Wobblet,"
~280 acres, as described in same communication, ordered selected"
in part satisfaction of the Internal Improvement Grant.

~A communication from the same under date March 23 was read, or-"
~dered on file (see file /E/), and selection of lands applied for
~by M. Kenneday, 152 07/100 acres, taken as 320 acres; W. Gorman,
~320 acres, taken as 640 acres; and C. Webber, 76 86/100 acres,"
~taken as 160 acres, were ordered selected under the Public"
~Building Grant.  Lands applied for by James Clark, 200 acres,"
~taken as 400 acres; and by B. Clon, 40 acres, taken as 80 acres,
were ordered taken under the Internal Improvement Grant.

~A communication from the same under date March 31 was read, or-"
~dered on file (see file /F/), and lands applied for by E. D."
~Mulford, 320 acres, taken as 640 acres; and by M. Home, 160"
~acres, taken as 320 acres, were ordered selected under the"
Public Building Grant.

The State Register appeared personally before the Board and stat-
~ed that the work in his Office required the services of a clerk,
~and thereupon it was,"

~    RESOLVED, that the request of the State Register for permis-
~    sion to employ a clerk in his Office be granted, and that"
    the salary of said clerk be fixed at one hundred and fifty
    dollars per month.

~On motion, it was,"

~    RESOLVED, that in the opinion of the Board it is desirable"
    that the State Register cause the publication of his lists
~    advertising lands for sealed proposals in the ""Territorial"
~    Enterprise"" and in the ""Sacramento Union""."

~And also, on motion, it was,"

~    RESOLVED, that stated meetings of this Board be held on the"
~    first Wednesdays of January, April, July and October."

~Adjourned to meet Wednesday, April 3, 1869."
