The Regents met in the Office of the President of the University
on Saturday morning, January 31, 1920, at 11:30. There were
present Regents Cheney, North, Hood and Pratt and President
Clark. Absent: Judge Curler.
The minutes of the meeting of December 31, 1919 were, on motion,
approved. Vote:

The President recommended the acceptance of the resignation of
Miss Edna Claussen and of Mrs. Marie Eubanks, clerical assistants
in the office of the Comptroller of the University of Nevada,
these resignations to take effect from and after January 31,
1920. On motion of Regent Pratt, the recommendation was approv-
ed. Vote:

Upon nomination of Comptroller Gorman, the President recommended
the employment as clerical assistants in the office of the Comp-
troller of the University of Nevada, Mrs. Jennie Woodbury at a
salary of $100 per month, and Miss Lucile Rosenbrock at a salary
of $90, each of these appointments to take effect on February 1,
1920. On motion of Regent Pratt the recommendation was approved.

The President recommended the acceptance of the resignation of
Professor Charles S. Knight as Dean of the College of Agricul-
ture of the University of Nevada, this resignation to take
effect on July 1, 1920. Dean Knight tendered his resignation
by letter of January 10, 1920, naming in that letter July 1,
1920 as the day on which his resignation should take effect.
The President presented this letter of resignation for the
Regents' files.
Upon motion of Regent Pratt, the recommendation of the President
as given above was adopted. Vote:

Regent North made a motion that the President be requested by
the Board of Regents to convey to Dean Knight the appreciation
of the Board of Regents for his efficient and continued service
in the University and the well wishes of the Board for his
future service and that the Board hopes there may be effective
cooperation between the University and him in his new field.

Upon motion of Regent North, list of Claims No. 18, covering
Checks 124 to 130 inclusive, for a total of $23,480.13, and
of State Claims No. 17, covering Checks 232 to 248 inclusive,
for a total of $18,970.00, also Claim No. 249 for the sum of
$282.50 were approved. Vote:

The President recommended the election of Professor John W. Hall,
now in the University of Cincinnati, to be Dean of the School of
Education of the University of Nevada from and after March 1,
1920 at a salary rate of $4000 per year from March 1 until July
1, 1920, and at a salary rate of $4200 per year from July 1,
1920. It is understood that this pay is for the regular Uni-
versity year only and that if Professor Hall serves as a member
of the Summer School staff, he shall receive additional compen-
sation for such Summer School service. Upon motion of Regent
North the above recommendation was adopted. Vote:

The President approved the recommendation of Commissioner
Dinsmore that the salary of Assistant Chemist Wayne B. Adams
of the Bureau of Food and Drugs be increased from $100 to $125
per month, dating from January 1, 1920. Upon motion of Regent
Pratt, the above recommendation was adopted. Vote:

The President recommended the passage of the following motion:
Any regular and full-time member of the University staff,
instructional or public service, who is a College graduate,
may, upon approval of the President, register for any Uni-
versity course or courses without paying any other fees than
regular laboratory fees.

The President made a report on the progress of the Mining Ex-
periment Station for Nevada as given him by Senator Henderson.
Mr. Pratt suggested that the University should be ready to help
the ranchers this Summer with information regarding tomato wilt,
which made its first appearance in Nevada last Summer.
President Clark made a brief statement regarding his trip to
southern Nevada.
