January 22, 1985
The Board of Regents met on the above date for a special tele-
conference meeting in the Conference Room, Chancellor's Office,
Reno, Nevada and the President's Conference Room, University of
Nevada, Las Vegas.

Mr. Mark Dawson, Deputy Chancellor
Dr. Warren Fox, Vice Chancellor
Mr. Donald Klasic, General Counsel
Ms. Mary Lou Moser, Secretary
Chairman Klaich called the meeting to order at 10:30 A.M. on the
above date, stating that the purpose of the meeting was to ap-
prove the Report of the Nevada Joint Council on Vocational Edu-
cation.
There was lengthy discussion of the report with several amend-
ments to be made through Mr. Bill Trabert of the Nevada State
Department of Education. The amendments are as follows:
p. 2 #2, change from "sole" to "substantial"
p. 3 #1, change from "solely" to "substantially"
p. 9 Study the need for a policy to set guidelines for
hiring of occupational education instructors at the
Community Colleges.
Encourage each Community College to report back to
the high schools ...
p. 10 Additional recommendation:
Cooperation is encouraged among occupational and aca-
demic instructors to insure that minimum competencies
in applied academic skill areas are met in occupa-
tional courses.
p. 14 Additional recommendation:
Encourage employers in business and industries to
report to high schools and Community Colleges on the
performances of employees who have benefited from
their occupational courses and programs.
Ms. Del Papa moved to accept the Report of the Nevada Joint Coun-
cil on Vocational Education as amended. Mrs. Gallagher seconded.
Motion carried by roll call vote, all voting in the affirmative.
The meeting adjourned at 11:05 P.M.
