Regent Kevin Melcher was elected to the Board of Regents in 2010. He currently serves as chair of the Audit Committee and Business and Finance Committee.  He is also a member of the Health Sciences System Committee and the Workforce, Research and Economic Development Committee. He was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve on the Nevada State Board of Education effective January 8, 2013.

Regent Melcher is a native Nevadan and graduated from Reno High School in 1974. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1979 and earned his Masters degree in 1981. He served as a student senator for the colleges of arts and science and education for four years and was ASUN senate president in 1978-1979.

Regent Melcher retired in 2008 from the Elko County School District after serving his last 22 years as a school and district level administrator. He is married to Reno native Ann Marie (Humphrey) Melcher and they have resided in Elko, Nevada since their marriage in 1980.
