STATEMENT ON THE RETIREMENT
OF TMCC PRESIDENT PHILIP RINGLE

It is with regret that we announce that Dr. Philip Ringle has informed the Nevada System of Higher Education that, due to a chronic and severe respiratory condition, he will no longer be able to serve as Truckee Meadows Community College’s president.

Dr. Ringle has served with distinction for five years. When Dr. Ringle arrived in 2001, Truckee Meadows Community College was in a difficult period of transition. Under his stewardship and leadership, TMCC now models the highest ideals of academic excellence, student success, and fiscal accountability. His expertise helped to bring the college into a position of respect in the community while ensuring that residents of the college’s service area receive programs and services of the highest possible quality.

A president is asked to provide leadership and vision and to ensure the sustainability of their institutions. Dr. Ringle has excelled in all those areas while developing the trust and admiration of every constituency with which he worked. The numerous college achievements, its spectacular growth, and the personal recognition he received for his work at the local, regional and national level are all testimony to his leadership. Indeed, under his tenure, TMCC became the 26 th fastest growing community college of its size in the nation.

As his health permits Dr. Ringle will continue to provide advice and counsel to the acting president until a search is completed for the new president at TMCC.

Dr. Ringle will be sorely missed by the Board of Regents, the System staff, the students, faculty, staff and administration at the college and the community that he has been so active in for the past five years.
