Haslem Named MAP Director

2006 -- The Nevada System of Higher Education has named Sandy
Haslem director of the Management Assistance Partnership (MAP). Haslem,
who has been with MAP since 2000, and recently held the position of operations
manager, assumed her new position on July 1. She is replacing David Dwulit
who has retired.
MAP
is the industrial extension program of the Nevada System of Higher Education
and its partners. Its primary purpose is to work directly with Nevada companies
to strengthen their global competitiveness by providing information, decision
support and implementation assistance in adopting new, more advanced technologies,
techniques, and best business practices.MAP currently has 16 employees
in four locations across Nevada. The agency’s field engineers have worked with such notable Nevada
companies as YESCO, Chef Rubber, Custom Stamping, and Springs Windows.
Prior
to joining MAP, Haslem served as president of Resource Connection
Engineering, LTD where she provided consulting engineering services to
mining firms. In 2000, she was the technical editor for The Orbit,
a publication distributed by Bently Nevada. From 1995-2000, Haslem held
the position of chief mill metallurgical engineer for Barrick Goldstrike
Mine in Elko, Nevada.
Haslem
earned a B.S. in chemical engineering and an M.S. in metallurgical engineering
from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a registered professional engineer
and serves as the chairman of the National Professional Engineering Exam
Committee.
