Whipple, Howard Named Chair and Vice Chair

9, 2006 -- The Nevada Board of Regents today elected Bret Whipple
to serve his second term as chair and Linda Howard as vice chair of the
13-member higher education governing body. Regents Whipple and Howard
will begin their one-year terms starting July 1. The Board's current
vice chair, Dorothy S. Gallagher will conclude her term June 30.
Bret
Whipple
Bret Whipple was elected to the Board of Regents in 2002 and is the
representative for Clark County, District 2. A practicing attorney
in the state of Nevada, with license to practice in Arizona, his primary
area of concentration is criminal defense. His experience in the field
of law is wide-ranging and includes numerous jury trials, preliminary
hearings and an “oral argument” before
the Nevada Supreme Court. He is also a certified public accountant licensed
to practice in Arizona, New York, Pennsylvania and Nevada. He is a 1995 graduate
of the University of Arizona College of Law and holds a B.A. in economics/accounting
from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
Linda Howard
Linda Howard was elected to the Board of Regents in 2000 and is currently
chair of the Cultural Diversity and Security Committee, and a member of
the Research and Economic Development Committee, Student and Academic
Affairs Committee, the ad hoc Technology Task Force.She is a 2005
graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a master’s
degree in public administration and 2002 UNLV graduate with a Bachelor
of Science degree (with honors) in workforce education, post-secondary.
She is also a 1990 graduate of the Community College of Southern Nevada
with an Associate of Applied Science degree (with honors) in computer
technology.
