ALLEY NAMED HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY FOR NEVADA HIGHER EDUCATION
LAS VEGAS Chancellor James E. Rogers announced today the selection of
Dr. Lee Alley as the Nevada System of Higher Educations new vice
chancellor for technology.
Alley, who is currently the chief information officer for the South Dakota
University System, will start September 1 at a salary of $155,000.
Lee Alley brings an outstanding record of leadership and integrity to the
System, said Rogers. As we undergo the challenges of implementing
the Integrated Information Technology project, we will be counting on
Lees experience to guide System Computing Services in the years
ahead.
Alley has been with the South Dakota University System since 2001 and
previously served as a senior manager for higher education technology strategy
consulting with KPMG Peat Marwick (now BearingPoint) from 1997-2001. He was
also the founder and president of WorldCLASS Strategies, LLC, a higher
education technology consulting firm.
Alley holds a Ph.D. in management systems and an M.S. in computer science from
the University of Nebraska. He also earned an M.S. in physics and a B.S. in
mathematics and physics from Central Missouri State University.
System Computing Services provides information technology leadership and
System-wide technology services to the NSHE in support of its instructional,
research and service missions. SCS is organized into three functional areas,
with more than 100 employees, to address System-wide information services,
telecommunications and customer services: Applications and Technical Services,
responsible for management information systems, software support, and computer
operations; Network Services, responsible for statewide telecommunications
development and operation; and Customer Services, responsible for SCS customer
services in coordination with campus support services and for support of
external relations.
The Nevada System of Higher Education, comprising two doctoral-granting
universities, a state college, four comprehensive community colleges and one
environmental research institute, serves the educational and job training needs
of the nations fastest growing state. As Nevadas only system of
higher education, the NSHE provides educational opportunities to more than
100,000 students.
