JOINT REGENTS AND ADVISORY COMMITTEE SELECTS FINAL TWO CANDIDATES FOR NSC
PRESIDENCY
LAS VEGAS -- A joint committee of the Nevada Board of Regents and an
institutional advisory committee today selected the final two candidates for
consideration as the next president of Nevada State College.
The Nevada State College Presidential Search Committee, chaired by Regent Mark
Alden of Las Vegas, announced the selection of the following two candidates:
·
Dr. Andrew R. Bodman, provost and vice president for academic affairs, Western
Washington University (Bellingham, Washington)
·
Dr. Fred J. Maryanski, interim provost and executive vice president, academic
affairs, University of Connecticut (Storrs-Mansfield, Connecticut)
I am looking forward to inviting the final two candidates for campus
visits next week, said Alden. The committee was impressed by the
qualifications of both Dr. Bodman and Dr. Maryanksi and I am confident that we
have selected two impressive candidates for the position.
The finalists will conduct campus visits on Dec.13-14, as well as meet with
regents, the chancellor, faculty, students, and NSC foundation members. The
committee plans to deliberate on Dec. 15 to make their final recommendation to
take before the full Board of Regents at a later date.
The 17-member joint committee, which consists of a five-member Regents
committee and a 12-member institutional advisory committee, met today to
interview the five finalists.
In addition to Alden, members of the Board committee include Regents Jill
Derby, Thalia Dondero, Linda Howard, and Jack Lund Schofield.
The Nevada Board of Regents is the elected, 13-member governing body for the
University and Community College System of Nevada. Comprising two
doctoral-granting universities, a state college, four comprehensive community
colleges and one environmental research institute, the UCCSN serves the
educational and job training needs of the nations fastest growing state.
As Nevadas only system of higher education, the UCCSN provides
