Board Names O’Hare to Lead University
Press
Las Vegas—The Nevada Board of Regents today appointed
Joanne O’Hare to serve as the director of the University of Nevada Press.
O’Hare has been the interim director of the UCCSN’s publishing division
since January, 2003.
"After conducting a national search, Ms. O’Hare emerged
as a top candidate,” said Board Chair Stavros S. Anthony. “We are
looking forward to her continued leadership in the months ahead.”
As director, O’Hare will oversee acquisitions and development
of approximately 25 titles per year in the areas of western and environmental
literature, western history, regional and Great Basin studies, gaming and Basque
studies.
O’Hare joined the Press in 2001 as a senior editor. Previously,
she served as director of the Museum of New Mexico Press and senior editor of
the University of Arizona Press.
O’Hare earned a B.A. in English literature from Mount
Holyoke College and holds an MBA with an emphasis in marketing from Fordham
University.
The Nevada Board of Regents is the elected, 13-member governing
body for the University and Community College System of Nevada. Comprising two
doctoral granting universities, a state college, four comprehensive community
colleges and one environmental research institute, the UCCSN serves the educational
and job training needs of the nation's fastest growing state. As Nevada's only
system of higher education, the UCCSN provides educational opportunities to
more than 90,000 students.
