Regents Ask for Release of CCSN Report

LAS VEGAS – Legal counsel for the Board of Regents has asked the five primary individuals discussed in the report prepared as a result of the two-month investigation at CCSN to consent to release of the report to the public. This request was sent on November 25, 2003 to Chancellor Jane Nichols, Dr. Ron Remington, John Cummings, Chris Giunchigliani, and Topazia “Bridget” Jones asking them to allow the release of the information in the 1,000 page report.

As of December 5, 2003, only Chancellor Jane Nichols and Topazia Jones have signed the release. However, Regent Tom Kirkpatrick also asked that his interview be released.

“We would hope to release the entire document so that everyone would have an opportunity to review the compelling evidence the Board members heard,” stated Board Chair Stavros Anthony. “However, if everyone does not sign a release our hands are tied. If the releases are signed, I would make the report public today.”

The Nevada Board of Regents is the elected, 13-member governing body for the University and Community College System of Nevada. Comprising two doctoral granting universities, a state college, four comprehensive community colleges and one environmental research institute, the UCCSN serves the educational and job training needs of the nation's fastest growing state. As Nevada's only system of higher education, the UCCSN provides educational opportunities to more than 93,000 students.
