Regents' Committee Recommends Daniels for CCSN Presidency

LAS VEGAS -- A committee of the Nevada Board of Regents today selected Dr. Jack E. Daniels as the top candidate to serve as the next president of the Community College of Southern Nevada.

The Regents' ad hoc CCSN Presidential Search Committee, which is chaired by Doug Seastrand of Las Vegas, selected Daniels this evening after back-to-back interviews with four finalists. The committee will present their recommendation to the full Board of Regents on June 14 for approval.

"The committee had a near impossible task today of selecting one candidate, " said Seastrand. "All four finalists would have made great presidents for CCSN. In the end, we selected Dr. Daniels and we believe he will bring an energy and vision to the college that will have a positive impact on the students, faculty and community for years to come."

Daniels is currently serving as the president of Central College in Houston, Texas. Previously, he held the positions of vice president at Grossmont College and director of educational development for the Peralta Community College District. He holds a Ph.D. in psycho-social processes in education from the Wright Institute Graduate School of Psychology.

In addition to Seastrand, members of the Board committee include Regents Jill Derby, Thalia Dondero (ex-officio), Linda Howard, Howard Rosenberg, Steve Sisolak and Tom Wiesner.

For nearly 30 years, the Community College of Southern Nevada has educated the work force that is the foundation of the region's dynamic economic development. Featuring three main campuses and 50 academic centers in four counties, CCSN enrolls more than 35,000 students in 70 career programs--nearly equal to the combined student body of Nevada's two universities.
