Field Paoli Selected Winner in Nevada State College Campus Design Competition

LAS VEGAS – After a two-month delay and a location change, a San Francisco architecture firm was selected today as the winner of the Nevada State College Campus Design Competition.

"We chose an organic design that was at one with the landscape," said Regent Howard Rosenberg, co-chair of the Board of Regents" Architecture Task Force. "Field Paoli's campus design takes the best parts of the traditional campus and marries them to contemporary concepts of space and design."

The task force met for three hours today to review concept revisions from the two finalists: Field Paoli of San Francisco and RNL Design of Denver.

The task force will recommend the winner to the full Board of Regents at their June 14-15 meeting in Reno.

The Nevada State College Campus Design Competition challenged architects, landscape architects, urban designers and planners to explore the idea of developing a new campus within one of the nation's fastest growing communities. The competitors were tasked with capturing the imagination of the local community while acknowledging the interplay of the physical environment and the pursuit of ideas, knowledge and wisdom.

Nevada State College at Henderson has been founded to help craft high quality K-12 teachers, health professionals and other professionals needed by the State of Nevada. Initially, the Henderson campus of the college will host 500 full-time students when it opens with enrollment expected to reach 4,000 full-time students within the first five years of operation.
