Flagg Appointed Deputy to the Chancellor

LAS VEGAS –- The Board of Regents today approved the appointment of Nancy Flagg to the position of deputy to the chancellor.

Flagg, who brings more than 20 years of higher education experience to the position, will assume her duties on January 2, 2001. She currently serves as the deputy to the president at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

"I'm delighted to have such a talented and creative individual as Nancy join my staff," said Chancellor Jane Nichols. "She has earned the respect of the higher education community and I look forward to working with her to advance our mission."

As deputy to the chancellor, Flagg will be a member of the chancellor's senior management team and will serve as the point of coordination for all major UCCSN projects.

A UNLV graduate with a B.A. in education and a M.A. in English, Flagg started her career as the university's publications manager in 1980. In 1986, she served as the special assistant to the provost before moving to her present position in the president's office in 1998.

Comprising two doctoral-granting universities, four comprehensive community colleges and one environmental research institution, the University and Community College System of Nevada serves the educational and job training needs of the nation's fastest growing state. As Nevada's only system of higher education, the UCCSN provides educational opportunities to nearly 100,000 students.
