Iverson Appointed Interim Vice Chancellor

ELKO -- The Board of Regents today unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Sherwin Iverson to serve as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.

Iverson, who previously served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, will begin his new responsibilities July 1.

He will be replacing Dr. Jane Nichols who was appointed by the Board in May to serve as the Interim Chancellor.

Iverson joined the UCCSN in 1998 as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and as Director of Institutional Research.

Prior to joining the UCCSN, Iverson was the Acting Associate Provost for Academic Planning, Policy and Evaluation; Assistant Provost for Policy Analysis; and Assistant Director of Institutional Research at the State University System of New York, System Administration.

A native of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Iverson earned a B.A. from the University of Vermont and was a Woodrow Wilson Scholar at Columbia University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Comprised of two doctoral-granting universities, four comprehensive community colleges and one environmental research institution, the University and Community College System of Nevada serves the educational and job training needs of the nation's fastest growing state. As Nevada's only system of higher education, the UCCSN provides educational opportunities to more than 90,000 students.
