Board of Regents Elect New Chair and Vice Chair
ELKO -- The Board of Regents voted today to elect Thalia Dondero as chair of the board and to elect Howard Rosenberg as the new vice chair.
Thalia Dondero has served on the Board of Regents since 1996 and was previously vice chair of the board. A resident of Las Vegas since 1943, she serves as chair of the Legislative Liason Committee as well as the Initiative for Teacher Education Task Force and the ad hoc Equity Space Study Committee. Regent Dondero is a member of many committees including the Academic, Research and Student Affairs Committee. She currently serves on the board of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada and is chair of the Housing division for the State of Nevada.
Elected to the Board in 1996, Howard Rosenberg is chair of the Board Development Committee and the ad hoc Board Secretary Search Committee. He has been active in the Academic, Research & Student Affairs and the Campus Environment Committees. Regent Rosenberg is currently the director of advisement in the art department for the University of Nevada, Reno. He holds a bachelor's of science degree in education and fine arts from the Massachusetts College of Art; a master's degree in fine arts, education and design from the Graduate School of Education and Design, and a certificate of advanced studies in educational administration from Harvard University.
The terms for chair and vice chair are one year.
