Spring Distance Education Web Catalog Now On-Line
LAS VEGAS -- Starting today, students from around the state can view the spring 2000 distance education course catalog and register for classes through the Internet at www.nevada.edu/disted.
A new web-based course catalog was launched today that will allow students to search more than 230 distance education courses from the Community College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada Community College, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, Reno.
Summer science education activities at the Desert Research Institute can also be previewed.
These courses, which are designed for high school students and students
pursuing a college degree, utilize a variety of delivery methods including interactive video,
Internet, videotape and television broadcast.
The spring catalog feature more than 30 computer classes as well as 28 education classes.
This innovative web catalog is the first part of a pilot program. Future updates will include additional search engines, Frequently Asked Questions sections (FAQs), student services assistance and a self-test to determine whether distance learning is right for the student's educational needs.
