Dr. Anthony Calabro Awarded President Emeritus

Reno, NV -- The Board of Regents awarded today the title of President Emeritus to Dr. Anthony Calabro, former president of Western Nevada Community College.

At the request of WNCC President James Randolph, and in accordance to Board of Regents' policy, the Board presented this prestigious title to Dr. Calabro for his 12 years of distinguished service to WNCC. The effective date for this award is June 30, 1995 when Dr. Calabro retired from his post.

"I'm honored to be recognized as a President Emeritus," said Dr. Calabro, who is currently is a Regents' Professor in the Educational Leadership Department in the College of Education at UNR.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as president at WNCC and count those years as the high point of my professional career."

Dr. Calabro served as president of WNCC from 1983 to 1995 during which time he created and developed the WNCC Foundation and opened the Family Services Center to provide childcare to students, faculty and staff.

In addition to his teaching position, Dr. Calabro also serves part-time as the assistant vice chancellor for academic and student affairs for the UCCSN.

Dr. Calabro holds an Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado, as well as a M.A. in psychology. He also holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado.
