DR. JOHN RICHARDSON APPOINTED ACTING PRESIDENT
OF
TRUCKEE MEADOWS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

March 14, 1997 ­­ Carson City, Nevada

The UCCSN Board of Regents today approved the appointment of Dr. John Richardson as Acting President of Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), effective March 14, 1997 through June 30, 1998. A national search will be conducted during this period to identify a new president for the College.

Dr. John Richardson has served the University and Community College of Nevada as Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (1992­93, 1994 to present) and as Interim Chancellor from 1993­94. He served previously as Chancellor of the North Dakota University System from 1981­90 and as Commissioner of Higher Education and Chief Executive Officer for the Board of Regents of the Montana University System from 1979­81. Dr. Richardson also held the positions of Assistant Chancellor and Associate Professor from 1975­79 and Assistant to the Chancellor from 1970­75 for the Oregon State System of Higher Education.

Dr. Richardson has a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Sociology from Stanford University and an M.S. in Student Personnel and Counseling and a B.S. in History from the University of Oregon .
