RAY SELECTED AS GENERAL COUNSEL
------
Nevada Solicitor General to Lead System Legal Affairs
RENO, Nev. -- The University
and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) Board of Regents unanimously
approved the selection of Thomas J. Ray as General Counsel for the UCCSN
during a special board meeting today.
"After a very thorough
search process, it is my pleasure to announce that Mr. Ray will be bringing
his years of outstanding legal experience and leadership to higher education,"
said UCCSN Chancellor Richard Jarvis.
As General Counsel, Ray will
be the head legal counselor to the Board of Regents and Chancellor's office;
handle general litigation involving the UCCSN; and serve in an advisory
function for all UCCSN institutions.
Prior to accepting his position
with the UCCSN, Ray served as Solicitor General for the Office of the Nevada
Attorney General. From 1991-1993, he was the Deputy Attorney General. Ray
has been practicing law in Nevada for nearly 20 years. He is a graduate
of the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of San Diego School
of Law.
Comprised of two doctoral-granting
universities, four comprehensive community colleges and one environmental
research institution, the University and Community College System of Nevada
serves the educational and job training needs of the nation's fastest growing
state. As Nevada's only system of higher education, the UCCSN provides
educational opportunities to more than 76,000 students.
