Dr.
James G. Lenhart was named special assistant for the University of
Nevada Health Sciences System (UNHSS) by the chancellor of the Nevada
System of Higher Education in March. In this capacity, Dr. Lenhart
provides a medical perspective in the development of the programs
and initiatives of the UNHSS.
Dr. Lenhart is also the vice dean for the University of Nevada
School of Medicine since 2004. Prior to this, he served as chair
for the Department of Family Medicine for two years. Dr. Lenhart
joined the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1991 after
practicing medicine on Vashon Island in Washington for more than
ten years. Prior to this, he completed a residency in Family Medicine
at Brown University.
A native of Helena, Montana, Dr. Lenhart studied medicine at the
University of New Mexico and graduated in 1976. His professional
interests include health and wellness, population medicine and medical
information management.
Dr. Lenhart enjoys spending time with his wife Nancy, traveling,
photography, creative writing and most recently, the terroir of French
wine.
