Brian E. Campbell serves as director of development
for the University of Nevada Health Sciences System (UNHSS) and executive
director of the University of Nevada Health Sciences System Foundation.
Campbell is responsible for the day to day operations of the Health
Sciences System Foundation and working with the chancellor and other
key volunteers in securing private support for the Health Sciences
System
Prior to the UNHSS, he served as senior director of development
at the Iowa State University College of Business ( Ames, Iowa) where
he was responsible for all fundraising activities.
As executive director of the Medical Alumni Association/Foundation
at the University of Virginia ( Charlottesville, Virgnia), Campbell
was responsible for the fundraising and operations of the university-related
foundation. During his tenure at UVA, Campbell helped achieve record-setting
benchmarks in fundraising among American medical schools. He also
was an active participant in the “We Hold These Truths” campaign
that raised $1.4 billion.
A native of Gloucester, Virginia, Campbell served the Commonwealth
of Virginia on the State Board of Social Services from 1994 to 2001.
He helped write and implement Virginia’s landmark welfare reform
initiatives and also spearheaded a complete overhaul of the Child
Protective Services system. In 2001, he was awarded the “Together
for Children” award as child advocate of the year for the Commonwealth
of Virginia.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Campbell holds a bachelor’s
degree in business administration from Averett University and a master’s
degree in education policy from the University of Virginia.
Brian Campbell is a frequent speaker at fundraising conferences
speaking primarily on career progression in the development field
and also on organizational behavior in higher education. He is entering
his 12th year in the development field, exclusively in public higher
education.
