~ July 22, 1869"
The Board of Regents met at the call of the President. Present:
~C. C. Batterman, C. N. Noteware and A. N. Fisher."
Minutes of former meetings were read and approved.
~The matter of the award of lands, sealed proposals for which"
~were opened on the 9th day of July, 1869, and partial award"
~of which were made on the 13th day of July, 1869 by two members"
~of the Board, was taken up, and on motion, the awards of July"
~13, 1869, as per List No. 1 of awards filed with the State"
~Register, were approved by the Board and it was further,"
~ RESOLVED, that the Register be requested to notify parties"
~ to whom lands have been awarded, which have been listed"
~ to the State, to make payment for the same to the State"
~ Treasurer within ten days from the date of notice, and to"
~ notify parties to whom lands have been awarded, which have"
~ not been listed to the State, to make special deposit for"
the same with the State Treasurer within ten days from
date of notice.
~On motion, it was,"
~ RESOLVED, that owning to an error in the local U. S. Land"
Office affecting the State title by selection of the land
~ known as the U. S. Timber Reserve, the bids received for"
~ the purchase of said land, excepting the School Sections,"
be rejected and the Register be and is hereby requested to
~ return said bids to the bidders with the reasons thereof,"
and that said lands will be readvertised.
~ Second, that the minimum price of said lands be fixed at $5"
~ per acre, and that the Register be instructed to advertise"
that no bids will be received for a less sum per acre.
~A communication from the State Register under date of July 7,"
~1869, relating to excess of legal subdivisions, was presented,"
~read, and ordered on file (see file A)."
~A communication from same under date of May 4, 1869, relating"
~to appointment of clerk in his Office, was read and ordered on"
file (see file B).
~A communication from the same under date of June 4, 1869, relat-
ing to appointment of clerk in his Office was read and ordered
on file (see file C).
~A communication from the same under date of July 1, 1869, in-"
forming the Board that the entire amount of land which can be
~taken under the Public Building Grant, has been ordered selected
accompanied by List No. 1 of selections as per order of this
~Board under date of April 27, 1869, was read and ordered on file
(see file D).
~And on motion, it was,"
~ RESOLVED, that all lands described in said list be selected"
under the Internal Improvement Grant with the exception of a
~ sufficient amount to fill the Public Building Grant, and of"
such as are in conflict with previous applications made by
the Board in behalf of the State.
~On motion, it was,"
~ RESOLVED, that the Register be instructed to select all land
~ applied for on special deposit, under the Penitentiary Grant
until such Grant is filled or until further notice.
A communication from S. Randall under date of May 7 was read
and ordered referred to the Register.
~On motion, C. N. Noteware was instructed to prepare a Commission
~of Appointment for Messrs. Britton & Gray, as Attorneys of this"
~Board, and that the same be signed by the members of said Board.
~On motion, it was,"
~ RESOLVED, that the Register be requested to forward dupli-"
cates of all lists filed with the local Land Officer to
~ the Attorneys of the State, Messrs. Britton & Gray, at"
~ Washington, D. C."
A communication from Isadero Cortketit was received and ordered
referred to the State Register.
